“Yes, I did say spaceship, but no I’m- I’m not from Vulcan. Or Mars,” the Doctor laughed. “I’m from a planet called Gallifrey. Well, what used to be Gallifrey, I suppose. It’s….not exactly there anymore. Not by my timeline at least,” he sniffed. But not wanting to get into the exact circumstances of his home planet, the Doctor continued. “Besides, I’d be surprised if someone like you wasn’t open to the idea of life on other planets.”
Marty believed that he could read faces well enough to tell that it probably wasn’t such a good idea to start pestering the other about this “Gallifrey” place- or whatever it was called. So instead, he dove right into responding to the last statement. Or at least he was intending to, until his mind had finally caught wind of what was throwing him off about the sentence (and it wasn’t the aliens part). ”Wait a minute- wait a minute, what do you mean ‘someone like me?’ I mean, mister, I’ve never met you before in my life.”

although this time i had good reason for runnin’ off into the blue, as it culminated with a trip to california and good ol’ disneyland
